Description

Chemical preparation:

Sablage au Jet 2000 has expertise in relation to different chemical preparation methods according to recognized standards.

Mechanical preparation:

this type of preparation is used regularly when chemical preparation or by abrasive projection cannot be used or simply when specified by the customer

Abrasive blasting:

Surface preparation by high speed abrasive blasting (commonly known as sandblasting). A wide variety of media can be used with this technique, depending on the alloy of the metal and second stage surface protection if required.

SSPC Surface Preparation Specs

- SSPC-SP 1, Solvent Degreasing
Degreasing with solvent is performed to remove all traces of oil, grease, dirt and other contaminants on steel surfaces.
- SSPC-SP-2, Manual Cleaning
Manual cleaning of steel surfaces is performed using non-mechanical tools.
- SSPC-SP-3, Mechanical cleaning
The mechanical cleaning of steel surfaces is performed using tools.
- SSPC-SP-5/NACE No. 1, Blank Shot
The surface is examined without the aid of a magnifying glass, shows no traces of oil, grease, dirt, dust, mill scale, rust or paint.
- SSPC-SP-6/NACE No. 3, Commercial Shot
The surface is examined without the aid of a magnifying glass, shows no traces of oil, grease, dirt, dust, mill scale, rust or paint. Generally, there is still, on about 33% of the surface, traces of discoloration caused by stains of rust, scale or previous paint. It is also possible that there are residues of rust and paint in the cavities of corrosion if the original surface is rusty.
- SSPC-SP-7/NACE No. 4, Light Shot
The surface is examined without the aid of a magnifying glass, shows no traces of oil, grease, dirt, dust, mill scale, rust or paint. There might be remains on the surface such as scale, rust or paint. This type of blasting is specific to aluminum parts and galvanized steel.
- SSPC-SP-10/NACE No. 2, Almost white Shot
The surface is examined without the aid of a magnifying glass, shows no traces of oil, grease, dirt, dust, mill scale, rust or paint. Generally, there is still, on about 5% of the surface, traces of discoloration caused by stains of rust, scale or paint before.
- SSPC-SP-11, Mechanical cleaning to bare metal
The surface is examined without the aid of a magnifying glass, shows no traces of oil, grease, dirt, dust, mill scale, rust, paint, oxide, corrosives and other foreign material. There might be a minimal residue of rust and paint in the cavities of corrosion if the original surface is rusty.
